What you will learn?

Survey a site with seven criteria and record everything in a dimensioned sketch.
Assemble the minimum tool kit and the materials list by pipe size and line length.
Drill, mount and level the indoor and outdoor units without vibration and without water infiltration.
Cut, bend and flare copper tube and tighten each nut to the torque in the manual.
Do a leak (tightness) test, a vacuum below 500 microns with a hold test, and a top-up charge by weight.
Connect the dedicated circuit, test, measure delta T and current, and hand over with a checklist and a warranty statement.

About this course

A badly installed split almost never fails on day one. It fails in the third month, with a leaking flare, or in the second year, with a compressor burned out by moisture left in the circuit. This course shows the installation procedure for a residential hi-wall split of up to 24,000 BTU/h, from site survey to handover. You learn to choose where each unit goes, assemble the minimum tool kit, drill and mount without vibration, cut and flare the copper to the torque in the manual, pull a vacuum below 500 microns measured with a micron gauge, top up the charge by weight in R-410A and R-32 safely, solve the condensate drain and connect the dedicated electrical circuit. It ends with the functional test, the handover checklist and the warranty statement. Every lesson has a worked example with numbers, a field checklist and a practical task. It suits people starting out in installation and people who will hire an installer and want to know what to ask for. It does not qualify you for work at height, electrical work or large-scale systems.

Requirements

Recommended: course CL1 (refrigeration cycle, BTU/h and refrigerants). If you have not taken it, you can keep up with a little more effort in lesson 6.
Know how to use a tape measure, a level, a drill and your phone calculator.
For the practical tasks: access to a real installation (yours, a client's, or by shadowing a professional).

FAQ

It is recommended. CL1 explains the refrigeration cycle, what BTU/h is and the difference between R-410A and R-32. Here those topics appear already applied. If you already work in refrigeration, you can follow along directly.
No. The course teaches the correct procedure and the reason for each step. Work at height requires the training of NR-35 (the Brazilian regulation on work at height), and work on an electrical installation requires the qualification of NR-10 (the Brazilian regulation on electrical safety). The certificate is a course completion certificate, not a professional qualification.
Not to watch. To do the work, yes: lesson 2 separates what is non-negotiable (micron gauge, vacuum pump, flaring tool made for R-410A/R-32, torque wrench, scale, nitrogen with a regulator) from what can come later.
No. The focus is the residential hi-wall split of up to about 24,000 BTU/h, with R-410A or R-32. Larger systems have their own piping, charge and safety rules. R-22 appears only when the subject is refrigerant recovery.
Yes. You will know what to ask for in writing: vacuum measured in microns, torque on the nuts, top-up charge weighed, a dedicated circuit with earthing, delta T and current measured, a report with photos. A good installer does not mind these questions.
