What you will learn?

Choose between analog HD, IP or hybrid CCTV based on the cable that exists, the image you need and the price.
Read a camera datasheet and calculate up to what distance it detects, recognizes or identifies a person.
Position cameras with the right height, angle and lens, avoiding backlight and blind spots.
Calculate storage in terabytes from cameras, bitrate and days of recording.
Put together the bill of materials: recorder, surveillance disk, PoE switch, cable, connectors and UPS.
Compare three quotes by what is written in them: cameras, days of recording, remote access, warranty and LGPD notice.

About this course

You asked for three camera quotes and got three different things: a kit of 4 "Full HD" cameras, a 4 MP IP system and a proposal with "30 days of recording" on a 1 TB disk. Which one is right? This course exists for that moment.

In 3 hours, split into 6 short lessons, you learn what changes between analog HD and IP CCTV, read a camera datasheet (resolution, lens, infrared, WDR, PoE) and find out at what distance it can identify a face. Then you design the coverage of a house and of a small shop, calculate how many terabytes you need for 30 days of recording and put together the bill of materials: recorder, disk, PoE switch, cable, connectors and UPS.

The content was written by Marcelo Nogueira Souza, an electrical technician and HVAC-R technician. E-Nogueira has installed CCTV, alarms and access control since 2014 in the region of São João da Boa Vista, São Paulo. The course closes with the coverage project for your own property: floor plan, camera table, storage calculation and bill of materials.

Base técnica: the international video surveillance standard (IEC 62676), Brazilian standards for cabling and electrical installations (ABNT NBR 14565 and NBR 5410:2004 (corrected version 2008)), the IEEE PoE standard, Anatel rules and the LGPD (Brazil's data protection law). The principles of coverage, resolution and storage apply in any country; outside Brazil, check the local rules for radio homologation and data protection.

Requirements

No prior CCTV knowledge.
Being able to do the four basic operations (the phone calculator is enough).
Recommended: EL1 (Safe residential electrical work), to understand outlets, circuits, earthing (grounding) and SPDs.
A phone with a camera, a tape measure and graph paper (or a drawing app) for the tasks.

FAQ

No. It teaches the fundamentals to choose, size and compare a system, and gives a base for those who want to start. Installing well takes bench and field practice, and the electrical part (outlet, circuit, earthing) follows NBR 5410 and must be done by a qualified professional.
No. The tasks use your property, a tape measure, your phone and paper. If you already have cameras, you will use their datasheet and recorder in the tasks; if not, you use datasheets you can find in any store.
No. E-Nogueira Academy does not name brands or suppliers. You learn to read the datasheet of any manufacturer and to compare on what matters.
In part. Resolution, lens, positioning, backlight, Anatel homologation and LGPD apply to them too. Recorder, PoE switch and cabling do not. Lesson 1 shows when the Wi-Fi camera solves the problem and when it does not.
No. Professional monitoring, facial recognition and corporate integration are outside this course. The focus is a well-designed recording system for a home or small shop, with access from the phone.
